How I help

Financial Guidance Should Start With the Problem — Not the Product.

Different financial needs require different solutions.

That is why my work begins by understanding what is actually happening in your financial life.

From there, we determine:

  • What needs greater structure.
  • What needs protecting.
  • What can move toward the future.
  • And what deserves attention first.
My approach

1. Money Strategy & Cashflow

Get Control of Your Money Before You Ask It to Do More.

You may not need a stricter budget.

You may need a better system.

Cashflow planning helps you understand what your income is already responsible for, what your lifestyle actually costs and what is truly available for savings, debt reduction, protection and future goals.

Does This Sound Familiar?

  • You earn enough but rarely feel ahead.
  • Your bank balance determines whether you feel comfortable spending.
  • Irregular expenses continually throw things off.
  • Savings gets moved back into chequing.
  • Credit cards quietly fill the gaps.
  • Your business earns revenue, but your personal finances still feel unpredictable.
  • Or you cannot confidently answer: How much of my income is really available to me?

That is what we work to uncover.

What We Look At

  • Your income.
  • Your regular commitments.
  • Debt payments.
  • Irregular and annual expenses.
  • Current spending patterns.
  • Savings priorities.
  • Upcoming responsibilities.
  • And the difference between what you believe is happening and what your numbers actually show.

The Goal

  • Know what your lifestyle costs.
  • Know what your income has already committed to.
  • Know what you can safely spend.
  • Know what needs protecting.
  • And know what can move toward your future.

When Debt Has Become Difficult to Manage

Sometimes the issue is no longer simply how to organize cashflow.

Debt may have reached the point where regular payments are becoming difficult to maintain and more formal options need to be explored.

If you are considering a consumer proposal, bankruptcy or another approach to dealing with significant debt, I can help you take the first practical steps.

How I Can Help

I can help you:

  • organize the financial information needed for the initial review
  • complete the appropriate intake or referral application
  • gather information about your income, expenses, assets and debts
  • identify questions you may want to raise with the licensed professional
  • connect you with an appropriate professional who can assess your situation and explain the options available to you

An Important Distinction

I do not file consumer proposals or bankruptcies, determine whether either option is appropriate for you, or provide insolvency advice.

A Licensed Insolvency Trustee is the federally regulated professional authorized to administer consumer proposals and bankruptcies in Canada. The LIT is responsible for reviewing your financial circumstances, explaining the available options and administering any formal insolvency proceeding you choose to pursue.

My role is to help you arrive at that conversation better organized and prepared, and to connect you with the appropriate professional when formal debt-resolution expertise is required.

2. Financial Protection

Protect the Income and People Your Financial Life Depends On.

Financial security is not only about accumulating money.

It is also about protecting what could be difficult to replace.

For many people, one of their most valuable financial assets is their ability to earn an income.

As your Financial Security Advisor, I help Ontario clients identify financial risks and evaluate appropriate insurance solutions.

Life Insurance

Protect the People Who Depend on You.

If you were no longer here, what financial responsibilities would remain? Life insurance may help address needs such as:

  • Income replacement
  • Mortgage obligations
  • Debt
  • Children and dependants
  • Final expenses
  • Business responsibilities
  • Estate and legacy needs

Depending on your situation, we may explore term or permanent life insurance.

Critical Illness Insurance

Protect Your Financial Flexibility While You Recover.

A serious illness can affect both sides of your finances. Income may decrease while expenses increase. Critical illness insurance may provide a lump-sum benefit if you are diagnosed with a covered condition and meet the requirements of the policy. The benefit can provide additional financial flexibility while you focus on treatment and recovery.

A useful question to ask is: If I could not work normally for several months, what would happen financially?

Disability & Income Protection

Protect the Paycheque Your Life Depends On.

If illness or injury prevented you from working, how long could your finances support you? Disability insurance is designed to help replace part of lost income when eligibility and policy requirements are met. This can be particularly important for self-employed professionals who do not have employer-sponsored disability benefits.

Travel Insurance

Provincial health coverage may not cover every medical expense incurred while travelling. Travel insurance may help protect against eligible emergency medical and other covered travel expenses.

3. Investing & Future Planning

When Your Foundation Is Stronger, Your Money Can Start Working Toward What Comes Next.

Investing should not begin simply because money happens to be available.

It should begin with a purpose.

Retirement.

Long-term financial security.

Education.

A future purchase.

Building wealth over time.

Or putting money that is not needed today to more productive use.

My role as your Financial Security Advisor is to help you understand how investing may fit within your broader financial picture.

When regulated investment advice or portfolio management is appropriate, I can connect you through established strategic referral relationships with appropriately registered investment professionals and financial institutions.

Those professionals are responsible for the regulated investment relationship, including areas such as suitability, Know Your Client requirements, risk assessment, investment recommendations, account opening and ongoing investment management.

I continue to support your broader financial-security relationship so that cashflow, protection and future planning remain connected.

Strategic relationships

Strategic Relationships

Financial security often requires more than one area of expertise.

Over time, I have built strategic relationships with professionals and organizations across financial services so that, when your needs extend beyond the areas I personally provide, I can help connect you with appropriately qualified resources.

You should not have to figure out which door to knock on next.

Where referral arrangements include compensation, appropriate disclosure is provided to the client.

We Don’t Start With the Product.

We start with the question.

  • What is happening?
  • What are you trying to achieve?
  • What could disrupt the plan?
  • What resources already exist?
  • What is missing?
  • What can your current cashflow support?

Then we determine the next appropriate step.
